Here are the latest updates from our ROSCOE snub shooters association for July 20, 2018. As always, it is in no particular order:
Testing the New Lyman-Pachmayr Speed Loaders – Recently, Lynman-Pachmayr (L-P) was kind enough to send us two samples of their new speed loaders. One was for the L-frame and the other a K-frame revolver. Unfraternally, we had a small problem with one of the two they sent. While loading the K-frame speed loader, the rubber O-ring inside the loader looks as if it became dislodged from its base at the bottom. The O-ring now has an odd “Q” shape at the bottom of the speed loader. Most of the rounds can still be added into and released from the speed loader, all except the single round that would normally rest directly above the “tail” of the O-rings “Q”. We contacted Lyman-Pachmayr and asked if we could exchange both for a new set of K-frame loaders. I expect the replacement sets will work flawlessly and we will be able to work up a short review in the next e-newsletter and a complete review in our Fall print newsletter.
FBI Miami Firefight – After sending out several reminders that we were able to secure a (nearly) half price deal with Special Agent Ed Mireles (Ret.) for his book, FBI Miami Firefight. We have sent our order in to him. We will be receiving our copies in short order, and we will forward them along to the folks who requested a copy as soon as they arrive. If you made a request for a copy and wish the text to go out as quickly as possible, please forward a check to ImWithROSCOE/FBI Book, care of 7 Mohawk Drive, Acton, MA 01720. The final cost for the text and shipping is $12.00 (reduced from $20.00.) Note that in the future we will have the PayPal setup to take payment for these items via the computer.
ImWithROSCOE Targets Update – Our in-house art master, Lorin Michki’s pre-production targets arrived (Not shown). The new targets look nearly identical to the test sample on the right, only on brighter, white card stock. We have send a sample to the shooting academy that requested a copy for possible future use in their shooting program. We are waiting on the next run of the test targets for use in our July and August ImWithROSCOE workshops. These test targets will come in two styles, one a 2-foot by 3-foot standard rectangle, and the second will have the art printed directly on the IDPA style cardboard shape. We will be testing some additional range training art on the reverse.
Shirley Rod and Gun Club Workshop a success. Hamilton Rod and Gun club this weekend – The Shirley (MA) Rod and Gun club hosted our 3-hour skills workshop and demo shoot on Sunday, July 15. We picked up several new members, and possible a new host range for the Fall. We have a larger number of participants scheduled for next Saturday’s event in Southbridge. Let’s see if we can draw in a second host club.
That is it for All The News That Fits for this week. Please remember to post snub related items on our Facebook page, and to invite your fellow snub shooter to join us on Facebook.
